Hi, I'm sorry to have to say but my family are feeling exactly the same as yours.  Our son has missed almost 2 appointments also.  He has refused to do his exercises now as he feels that there is no point as no one from Dore has bothered to contact us personally either by phone or letter and if no one is going to test him why bother!  My son is a few years older than yours and really feels let down and I really don't blame him. My husband also says that our contract has been broken and we feel that we have wasted a lot of time and energy and are still gutted by what has happened.  I only hope something can be sorted out soon.

Just to let you know that we will be writing to all clients in the next day or so to let everyone know the ongoing plans. We have already tried emails and texts to phones to keep everyone up to date but some people are still not aware of what has happened. A new company had to be set up in order to move forwards and support exisiting clients. This could not be done until the administrators had completed their processes. Since this happened two weeks ago we have managed to recruit several programme specialists back into a new support centre in Kenilworth and are now seeing follow up clients. We have very limited numbers of support staff who are now contacting clients in chronological order from the 23rd May to offer a follow up appointment at the Kenilworth support centre while we start to organise the development of new partnerships around the UK to continue the Dore programme provision. We are confident that we can maintain ongoing provision to exisiting clients via this support centre until new centres open nearer to you.

Meanwhile everyone should register and use the MyDore facility via the Dore website. This system has taken 2 years to complete and was about to be launched this year. It is designed to provide your programme online and also to allow prescription of new exercises based on previous exercise reporting and previous physiological progress. Historically exercise precribing was based not only on physiological tests but also on other factors including exercise difficulty and compliance. By now examining exisiting physiological progress we are confident that the My Dore system can keep people well on track with the right programme while we make every effort to get clients tested as soon as possible.

Many thanks for your patience during this time of uncertainty.

Thank you Dr Roy for this information - realistically, how long will it be before the local centres are in place - I know this will be a difficult one to answer but I would rather know the outside projection date of the service date rather than hoping a centre will be available very soon. I feel, not knowing, is worse than having a long wait. I spend a great deal of time trying to assess any clues/information to help me decide how and when the new type of service will continue.

We have a lot of interest already from existing staff and parents wanting to run a local partnership. Realistically we know that it will take several weeks for a partner to source premises and get things set up for a new centre. What we cannot know for certain is how soon we will find a suitable partner in your area and where that partnership might be located. This is why we have set up a large client support centre in Kenilworth and are spending a great deal of time improving the function of My Dore to allow clients to carry on using the programme successfully for longer if people cannot attend due to the times and distances involved and availability of appointment slots.

Sorry that I cannot provide more information but as soon as we know anything definate we will be telling people the plans.

Thanks again - having this kind of dialogue is very powerful and is exactly what I need right now - I know it takes up lots of time to reply to people but with so much goodwill available from lots of parents/supporters, perhaps it would be good to keep everyone in the loop. It seems that each little bit of negative news or lack of news develops potential gloom and uncertainty creeps in. Keep going and I'm sure most of us are supporting you as much as we can.

    Dear Dr Roy,

I understand about the appointments but my son was supposed to have his on the 27th May and I havent heard anything even though I have emailed asking for notice about his appointment.  I have to bring him from Malta and as you know he needs two days rest from the flight before he can be tested.  Please help as we are feeling deserted.

Dr Roy, I'd like to know if there are any plans to assess children who are nearing the end of the programme. My daughter is close to finishing. Will she get an assessment before going onto the wind down exercises or will it all be done through MyDore. If so will she get an assessment at the end to make sure everythings OK and that she hasn't regressed.  Confused
