    New Message from Wynford

    Hi All,

Have just noticed a new message from Wynford on the Dore website. He is trying to explain how Dore got to be in this position. I am not sure if it makes things much clearer but he has obviously  wanted to get a few things off his chest.

lucysmum - I think that is the same link that Jevon posted on the Australia thread yesterday. There is also a PDF file from Dr Roy aimed at the Australians.

Not sure if everyone has seen Wynfords latest video on the 1st August, it does seem as though things are moving forward, hopefull new centers opening in UK end of August and being able to make appts online in future. All positive for the future of Dore, so here is hoping. Ellie XXX

I watched it this morning Ellie. It looks like there are going to be many more developments. Wynford seems quite confident that they can finish those of us who have been doing the programme for more than 12 months without further assessments. I think Laura will be finishing soon and I'd been worrying about her not being assessed but I'm feeling better about it now. I think we have to trust that Wynford and his team know what they're doing.Things certainly seem more positive now.

    Re: New Message from Wynford

    Hello

I am 39 and have recently discovered that I have dyslexia and ADHD. I have just read Wynford's book and saw the Dore Programme as a ray of light in what is a very confusing time. However, upon trying to contact Dore I have learned that they have gone into adminstration and I cannot find any contact details to speak to anyone at Dore about enmrolling on the programme.

If anyone can point me in the right direction or provide advice on whether I will still be able to go on the programme and thei rperosnal experiences of it's effectiveness then  I'd be most grateful. I'm feeling quite confused and concerned by evereything so any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Stuart,

Dore did go into administration and as far as I know Wynford Dore used his own money to buy the assets, however with little cashflow, not enough doctors can be paid. This has resulted in a massive backlog of clients currently on the programme that are unable to see a doctor start the programme. I want to do the program too.

My advice to you is wait a couple of years by which time Dore will hopefully be back on it's feet and with government funding. If you believe in what Dore is doing, do a little research, contact your local MP or statesman and get their support.

    Hi Stuart

I don't know where you live, but we live in the USA and all centers are closed here, for now.  However, we do have The Hallowell Center in Massachusetts and New York.  They are independent of Dore, but have the program and the people.  This is Dr. Edward Hallowell's center.  Not knowing how it is in the UK and elsewhere, but for here, he is viewed as a top expert on ADD/ADHD and has written several books on the subject.  His son also went through the program, so he is a see-er/believer.

Don't think you have to wait a couple of years.  If you possibly can, try to get to his center and get started.  We are only 5 months in, but anticipate a greater attention span any time.

Hi, I've started the program mid. Feb. in USA and It's really hard to keep going without the appointments. Is there any way the Dore centers could be back in USA? I really hope it will. Ever since I started the program I feel much better and I look forward to finish the program with feeling much better. I wish everything will resolved in good final solution. best, alison

I am on my high horse here Dore it is fine publicising about what you can offer but there are people like my son Kieran that are still waiting to hear about an assessment.

I have been patient heard from those that have had their assessments even those that were due after him and we still waiting patiently. I have e-mailed to find out what the situation is but no response. I am beginning to wear thin with my patience at the moment.

I have been loyal to Dore through the good times as well as the bad even before this forum came into being, have helped many mothers along the way why do I have to resort to posting on the forum in the hope of getting a response. If I can use my time in helping others doing Dore then a response from someone to my questions is not too much to ask, is it????.

Come on Dore I have helped you over the years, let me know what is happening about my son, he has been on the treatment 10 months now but 6 months of that without an assessment. I don't care when the assessment is as long as I know where we are going or are you going to leave him till he has been on a year and then say he has passed the sell by date!!!!!  Ellie XXX

    Hi

I really hope you get an appointment soon. Son had been on the programme 6 months when it closed ( now 10 months) I rang the Dore  helpline in August and spoke to them about how much distress it was causing us and they were very sympathetic and helpful on the 'phone and arranged our appointment quickly (within two weeks). Son needed to know that they still cared after all his hard work and committment,  we struggled to keep him on track. It was as if he had had some kind of bereavement!!! I felt so sad for him. [:'(]

I have read your posts often and agree you have been more than supportive of Dore and Dore users over a long period of time.

Good luck, I hope you hear something soon xxxx

Hi Gill I usually go on the link daily to see if there is any change, but it always the same message " no appointments available for me as yet"

As you say it is knowing that as the weeks pass it gets nearer and nearer to the cut off year point. It is the lack of communication with no answers to my e-mail that finally broke the camels back and I saw red. It takes me a lot to get me going, I have been given another person to contact so I will try that tonight and see if I get any joy. Will keep you posted. Ellie XXX

    Hi Missellie

I hope you get your appt soon, you are and always have been the best advocate and support person for Dore - you have helped so many on countless occasions including me and I hope the Dore staff know that.

Keeping everything crossed that they will move heaven and earth to have your son seen asap - keep up the fantastic role you have in supporting Dore mums - we appreciate you greatly and value your advice and opinions.

Thank you Fallenash I was feeling very dispondent over the last couple of days, it was good to get it off my chest.

I do feel more upbeat tonight for the first time Kieran was able to try mental tasks with one of his exercises and did well, I was so pleased with him. He seems to have suddenly got some sort of order with his way of doing the exercises and can see why they are important.

I did have to bring his dad in to help me though because Kieran does have a habit of playing me up. We had tears this morning he did not want to do them. In the end we had to tell him to sit down, think about it, stop crying and then we can go back to the exercises.

Result was he did really well, lets hope he keeps the momentum going. Ellie XXX

    Re: New Message from Wynford

Hi Missellie, I just tried the link myself and it says the same thing, "no appointments available". But then we were seen early Sept so that would make sense for me. Toi get the link I e mailed the info@dore e mail on the website, I was a bit turse in my e mail as like you was panicking about the year thing. Got a reply within 3 days.

Try them again and be a bit firm it may get you somewhere.

Glad Kieran is progressing so well. Gabe will be 8 tomorrow and I can't believe we have been doing the programme for a year. He has reduced his dose of concerta recently and has settled into year 3 well. Just waiting for that ADHD "switched off" thing to pass and then I'll know we have made it.

Good luck, you deserve it for being such a support to all on the forum.

Keep up the good work Kieran!

GillC - Harry still has ADD tendencies, but he is very much improved on what he was like pre-Dore! Can be frustrating at times though :)
