Dore Talk

Hi everyone

My son Jamie (Dyslexia 9yrs) has been on the program 7weeks. We returned from Menorca last night - religiously did the exercises whilst there!

Whilst there, Jamie became our time keeper - for restaurant buffet times etc, having been the only one of us to remember to bring a watch.  Usually (bless him) we take the time he shouts out with a pinch of salt as it is usually mixes up minutes and hour hands. HOWEVER 8/10 times on holiday he was actually giving us the right time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were so chuffed. It seems to be clicking.  Ive tried for a whole year to teach him basic time on a very simple paper clock and just when it looked like it had clicked, he'd forgotten everything the next day. We suddenly are moving toward consistency. I'm going to try laces again soon - will keep you all posted.

That's great news ... watch out for those backward steps though during the initial phase. Harry was very spacey - seemed to be away with the fairies, and then made huge gains again.

How great. Funnily enough we have had the same thing. Lucy has been on the programme since end March, and has really only been ok with half past and o'clock. She saw a watch she really liked a couple of weeks ago and her dad said that once she could tell the time she could have one, so we spent a bit of time going through it again and like Jamie it stuck. We'd throw random questions at her during the following days and she got them right.

It's great to see little bits of progress like this and as I said before in one of my posts, these little things mean so much to us and our kids. Well done both of you and keep up the good work, you can't help but believe Dore is working! It's a great motivator with those exercises!

 Great news Robinsoj makes all the difference when you see them retaining and finally learning things which seemed hopeless before, go for it!!!!

Tying shoe laces is a co-ordination and hand desteriaty problem for our children, expecially since a large majority of them have retained infant reflexes. Leila in the early stages of Dore could not use a knife and fork together, do up buttons or tie shoes laces. What ever the one hand is doing the other is trying to do the same, so you can imagine how tied up in knots they get and how difficult it is to co-ordinate each hand independently. Once you see these small problems become achievable, then you know the infant reflexes are finaly being suppressed as they should have done by the age of 3. Ellie XXX
