Duck, I don't know where your other two cohorts came from, so I speak to them as well if applicable. 1. LIBEL. 2. Let it be clear to all here that you are in cahoots with Dorothy Bishop at the U where you study, correct? And, her methods of dealing with dyslexia are at risk for every individual with dyslexia who goes through the Dore program with results, not to mention her reputation, and all who stand by her, though, there are many issues Dore treats that Bishop's method's cannot even touch. 3. Stop trying to play moderator here, if I want to post my retorts to you here, until/unless admn comes in, I'm happy right here. Thanks.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
Debbie, please stop shooting the messenger. There's been links to factual information like the receivership documents and Australian law. It would be better if DORE had posted these, as they do know for definite that there's going to be a meeting on Friday which creditors (including ex-staff & clients) have an interest in attending. I'd strongly encourage you to re-post and forward them, thanks to whoever's done that on the Yahoo group already. There's been links to information posted by (ex)staff, 'till Friday part of the 'team' who you are waiting for 'official' information from. Apart from the unnecessary personal attacks by other people on this thread, I'm not sure how I'm 'ruining' a 'lovely supportive forum'. I've tried hard to avoid arguing and posting about more than what information there is on the immediate situation. What problem with the content of my posts do you have, rather than that it's me posting them? If the DORE staff and customers had posted directly on here rather than been linked to, would that have been a problem? Yep, what's going on is unsettling, even 'dreadful' for a 'lovely supportive forum', but shooting the messenger isn't going to change what's happening. Maybe you'd rather not know yourself, but the information particularly about the creditor's meeting and helpline numbers does *need* to be got out ASAP to those affected, and this is the fastest way I can think of doing that 'till DORE do themselves. None of this has anything to do with what I think of the DORE programme as an educational intervention. Again, if you can post what people do need to know ASAP, please do. 'Till then, I'll keep trying to fill in the gaps. It would be nice if we coudl work together for the good of those affected by this.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
As I said before, the links to your blogs are already on here for those who are interested. I have no problem with you putting info on your blogs if that's what floats your boat. What I do have a problem with is you invading OUR support forum with the same information. It is not necessary to post it in both places. Leave our forum alone it is here for us to support each other. Post your info on your own blogs and allow people that want the info to read it there and leave us alone and we will all be happy. It's a simple solution but you don't seem able to understand. You stick to your blog and we'll stick to our forum. Problem solved.

FrazzleDazzle, you are of course able to post wherever you like. However, I'd rather leave this thread for information & support, rather than personal bickering. Therefore, I've replied to you on this new thread. Up to you what you do with it, since neither of us are moderators then we are stuck with reasoned debate for now.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
Debbie, Australian staff and clients need the official legal info NOW, since the creditors meeting is Friday morning. If someone else posts it first, excellent, but distributing it as widely & quickly as possible is important. 'Till DORE are posting what people need to know as soon as they know it, I'll keep going. If you want to help those involved, I'd suggest doing the same.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
1) Empty threat. Evidence? Didn't think so.
2) Evidence? Didn't think so. Might want to check definition of 'libel', appears you're the only one who is treading that fine line... 3) Strange, looks like you're the _only_ one who is posting threats with your first point... might want to post in the 'explanation sub-thread', in future. Want to quit with the empty threats? Not very... supportive... nor child-friendly.... rather childish, really... Now, back on topic after that nonsense: I will admit, the DORE phoneline was more than pleasant with a straight-forward statement on the situation regarding the cancelled 'open day' that was supposed to happen today. Will there be more information coming up very soon though? There are worried staff, for a start...

OMG what a nasty individual. Frazzle didn't threaten anyone. I object to the likes of you telling us where to post on our support forum.
Duck I'm not shooting the messenger, more like shooing away the vultures.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
ok ok everybody CALM DOWN and step away from the computer!!!
its a highly emotional subject at the moment ...and as NONE of us are qualified to be commenting on the situation at the minute why dont we all take a step back...deep breath..cup of tea.......etc etc
Dore mums.....we dont know any more about the situation than psychoduck, podblack and Gimp do......lets just keep it together until there are more statements from Dore themselves (although Im pretty sure Wynford will be busy sorting this out rather than posting on the net)
Psychoduck,Podblack, gimpy.....although Im sure your arnt 'reveling' in this information, please understand for those parents doing dore at the moment it is a highly emotional subject and tempers are going to fray...can we please leave out the bickering...(thats ALL OF US)...but please understand that your undisguised 'glee' at this gem of information is kind of irritating......
Id rather be hated for who I am than loved for someone Im not

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
All calm now thanks Eraina. I'll try to keep my cool but as you know it's not always easy lol
I'm sure there will be an official statement when they know what's happening and I agree with Eraina, Wynford is probably far too busy at the moment to be posting anything. Be patient everyone and wait for the next official post, at least then we will know the true facts.

'...things are still moving forward here in the US and in the UK as far as I know... ...I have not heard anything about any of the other countries having any issues...'
Post by DORE staff on a DORE-moderated list - does that count as 'official'? It might reassure people, so I've posted it here anyway.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
I'd like to post further regarding my original statement: "An Explanation Would Be Nice" . If I was a parent with no Internet access, I would still be in the dark about everything that has been discussed here over the past few days. If I were without Internet access, I would not know about voluntary administration. I would not have access to links and information posted both here and on the Yahoo Group as well as other places on the Internet, such as the blogs others have mentioned.
I, for one, appreciate the links and information. The legal status, the news, and further developments. I appreciate someone caring enough about what is happening to forward on the information. I understand that this upsets some people here and that obviously, before my question, there have been ongoing discussions with several list members regarding the ethics of the treatment. But I am not here for that. Right now, I just want an explanation, and information. If DORE are unable to furnish it (and please understand, I appreciate there may be little or nought they are able to share, and I respect that), then someone is taking the time to gather it. For me, being informed 'here' of any updates makes it easier to keep track of the status of the problem.
I know this does not sit well with all. But it is not 'directly' affecting you all, and hopefully never will. But is affecting me, and mine,
I would like an official stement, here. I would like to hear from Wynford, even if it is just to say he has nothing to say, as yet! An acknowledgemnent of issues gone wrong and some reassurance would be a good starting point. Thanks for listening to another point of view. You are all supportive and inspirational.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
It's now been a week. Well, 8 days to be technical. Still no information forthcoming. I'd love to know either:
a. when is my appointment
b where is my cheque.
Come on DORE people, please, stand by your product.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
Roosmum, the creditor meeting referred to earlier on this thread should have happened by now (unless I'm muddling my time-zones) - I'm surprised that you as a creditor haven't been contacted? I'd strongly suggest getting in touch with Woodgate directly to register your interest, and please encourage other staff & families to do the same. There is also a blog comment from what would seem to be a mum who asked for the refund that DORE offer on treatments not working, saying: 'I put the matter into the hands of Consumer affairs about 8 weeks ago,
and was yesterday 23/05/2008 advised by them that Dores Achievement
Centre had officially gone into solvency,(surprise, surprise], so there
would be no refund and I still had to pay the balance owing to the
finance company.' The timing of an announcement of insolvency directly after the creditors meeting is suggestive. As I'm sure FrazzleDazzle will tell you, please make your own judgements about the reliability of information sourced in this way, & hopefully more definite information will be made available by DORE shortly.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
It's hit the news now. Looks like bad news for staff & clients in terms of money owed.
'The company went into voluntary administration last week, and 85 staff members had their contracts terminated.
Giles Woodgate from the administrator Woodgate and Co says it is unlikely that creditors will get their money back.
"The operations and the clinics has been suspended and we will know
within the next few days as to whether or not that money will be coming
from an investor or we call sell the business so in the next few days
we will know whether or not there is a viable business," he said.'

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
Sorry and I feel for your disappointment and your child . sorry I don't really understand how all this thread/ topics etc work.
We have spend the last 8 months making those type of sacrifices to ensure all exercises are done daily and appointments meet with very little in return. Be thankful that you haven't wasted time (and i hope money since you hadn't had first consultation) and had to deal with the constant pressure and demand further into the program to have it ripped away from you. Perhaps they will restructure a better way for the Dore program to be reachable for many children. Good for them,,, but what about the ones that they are leaving suffering, out of pocket and devastated by precious time wasted. There is no closure.

Re: An Explanation Would Be Nice
Bel, we had paid a deposit. Not as much lost as others , but still a huge chunk as the cheque was cashed THE DAY they cancelled our appointment, we had to pay a deposit for testing in advance. We lost hope, too.
