Debbie - & anyone else who'd like to help, I think it will allow a few people to do it at once - email me on brainquack at gmail dot com and I'll work out how to give you mod &/or admin rights. It might help if you register a normal account first.

    email just recieved from Wynford.

I dont know whether to be angry ( we only signed up a short while ago and well its not cheap) or sad but grateful (he invested his own money in this and a lot more than I did)

Lets just hope something can be rescued

    23rd May 2008

    Dear Client,

Today I have had to make the hardest decision of my life- to suspend operations at the 13 UK Dore Centres. Having devoted the last 10 years of my life to help my daughter, Susie and thousands like her achieve their potential means that I know the concern you will feel now about any interruption to our service.

We have invested many millions into the research that has created the programme and to developing into its present state where it has the scientifically proven results that parents, their children and their teachers constantly report.

We have worked hard to persuade education authorities to provide this programme within the school system at low or no cost to parents, and although there are more and more teachers and other professionals supporting the benefits of the programme, the government has failed to act. As a consequence parents still bear the burden of solving their children’s learning issues.

My passion has been for this to reach everyone that needs it – so far I have not succeeded, as, despite the fact that so many have benefited so much from the programme and that the research findings have been so remarkable – it has still required enormous subsidy from me personally for it to continue. It is with deep regret that I am unable to sustain this financial burden any more. Therefore I have called in advisors to help restructure things to help me to achieve my ultimate aim – which is to make this unique programme available to millions rather than thousands, and if possible with less cost to parents.

I know some of you will be as concerned and upset as I am at this interruption, especially if you were due for an appointment in the next few days. We are working hard to satisfy your needs for the short term and we will contact you next week to give you full details of what to do next.

Please accept my apologies if we are unable to answer all of your individual queries at the moment, I will be contacting you frequently with as much information as I can.

    Yours Sincerely

    Wynford Dore

here's hoping something can be done quickly

the differences made to each individual add up to a mountain of evidence and surely someone other than wynford and us (at the coal face as it is) will see the benefits for continuing

sure i won't be the only one lying awake tonight wondering/worrying

    Lloyd,

So shocked to hear about the news tonight- we are thinking of all the families on the programme and the staff involved, who, like you and dedicated colleagues such as Dane etc, at Southampton and all the other centres, were doing such a fantastic job.  Here is hoping that something can be salvaged from the situation.  Best wishes from Benedict and his parents, and all the families who have been helped by the DORE program.

I'm in tears here. My son has only been on the programme for just over 3 months and we've seen huge improvements. I just can't tell him what's happening because he also believes in the programme and it will be a huge blow to him.

I sincerely hope that something can be arranged to allow him to complete the programme. I don't want to go back to our pre-Dore hell. Sad

    Re: Dore in administration!

    Hi All,

What a shock! I have previously visited Dore Talk to see what's covered and decided this eve to pop on a see if there is any info about Mental exercise. I've just started these and as an adult doing the exercises on my own finding it rather difficult to organise them. I never expected this news and concerned now like everyone else what will happen to the rest of my programme.

I have seen the log referring to a back up site which is really good idea, so thanks for those who sorted that. I'm hoping this site will continue as there is probably a lot of old threads that people can look back on for advice and ideas to keep us all going. Over the next week or so when more info is available, it might be worth dedicating a discussion area for tips on the actual exercises so that those further on could share advice etc, it's not going to be tailored to the individual but may help people progress a bit further. I plan to continue doing them (although motivation does fluctuate esp when doing shift work) and as already suggested will do each exercise for full 5 days, although almost all take this anyway as i'm finding them really hard.

For those of you with kids doing the programme it might be worth getting hold of the Dyslexic screening test results that your child did at assessment, if possible, as for those near the end you may be able to get your local education dep to repeat the test and can then compair the results. Having said that for children at school i think it's bit easier to see the effect the programme is having as reading age etc are all tested, not sure as an adult how i'll be able to review my progress if further support is unable to be arranged.

I so hope something can be sorted as it's still early days and quite a few difficult events lead me to starting the programme so really had my heart set on an easier life upon it's completion, and definatly a more organised one!  Just hope that all the research and effort Wynford has but in will not be ignored by the Educational system and other public bodies - there has also been a lot of Press in recent months.

Well I suppose it's just waiting now and telling as many people as possible we know doing the prog, who've not registered on Dore talk to do so, so that we can ensure as wide a audiance and support as possible for future weeks.

Sorry, I  am an optimist, and:

THE FAT LADY AIN'T SUNG YET.

Dore has moved mountains to help his family, and I trust he is still moving mountains to make things work out.

I am very much appreciative of the news as it is unfolding, and I want to publicly apologize to Duck, Gimpy, and Pod for being harsh. Though, I do not fully understand your motives or interest for heading up the info train, at this point, as info seems to be pouring in quicker than I can keep up on once a day, the new forum, I think, should be a great depot for those issues, and *hopefully* this forum can continue to remain open to be supportive for clients of the centers that remain out of danger.

Thanks FrazzleDazzle, & everyone else who has expressed similar sentiments.

Motives - well, I'm dyspraxic, care about a lot of people with SpLDs. I want people to be able to make an informed choice about finding the best help & support available. That'll do.

What the hell is going on????  My son (9) is on the Dore program in Australia and we saw on the news last night that Australia.  Now we get on the website to get some answers and UK gone as well.  Guess it's all down the toilet from this point..  If Dore wants to close the friggin program down to explore new options to reach millions in need,,, shouldn't he at least let the clients he does have that have also funded the program, finish the damm program first.  He has an obligation to those on the program worldwide.  I am totally disgusted and feel for all the people that are on the program who are now also left in limbo with the light at the end of the tunnel just being turned off and dreams of happier children shattered.  Sorry no MIRACLE CURE for you after all, but thanks for your kind donation.  What a kick in the guts.    One thing to have to continue paying off the loan for the program with the bank, but it's another altogether to have that MIRACLE CURE taken away from you.

I'll need some kind of therapy after this.  DO THE RIGHT THING DORE,, FINISH THE PROGRAM FOR THE CLIENTS YOU ALREADY HAVE!!!!  I DON'T WANT THE MONEY BACK, I WANT THE MIRACLE TO CURE MY SON AS YOU PROMISED!!!!!

Bel. I have been posting this in another thread for the last 10 days. You are the ONLY other Aussie here to post since I asked the same questions 10 days ago (see "Explanation" Thread for links and my questions.).

I wish more Australians had stepped forward then, even now.

    Re: Dore in administration!

Hi everyone. I have 2 kids on the DORE programme, my daughter has dyslexia and my son has Asperger's syndrome.  My daughter has just started mentals, my son is 2 months into the programme.

Apparently Australia has gone into voluntary administration.  I have no anger, I have deep sadness and am horrified that we lost the children's money that we saved so very hard for.  The money was to assist them in their needs in their lives and now it has gone, we don't have the benefit of seeing DORE all the way through.

More sadness when I heard that the UK is also in lockdown mode.  Does this mean because of 2 countries pulling out, that other people won't sign up in case it happens to them - and therefore ensuring that the UK and Australia have no way of making a comeback for all those already signed up?

I hope this isn't the case, but my husband is an accountant and has filled me in a bit about what happens in these situations and he doesn't hold out hope since we found out about the UK's lockdown.

I have emailed a letter to our PM, begging the government to step in and help, might be to no avail, but at least I've given it a shot.  If anyone has any other ideas on avenues we could pursue, please let me know.[:'(]

PS perhaps other Aussies can also send email to politicians or government lobbying for assistance - with alot of voices in on the act, we may be heard?

    Hi Georgesmum,

I am very sorry that this has happened and feel your pain.....I am an ex-employee that is seeing things crumble and it makes me so sad.....I wanted to tell you that there is a small chance that you can get some exercises to keep George going for the time being....You need to speak to a lady by the name of Glynis Howard, she will, if she can-try to sort things out for you. Please call the 1300 55 77 11 and ask for her, she will do everything she can to help you.

I wish you all the best and am very sad at this state of affairs,

     xx Anna
