    Re: PAPER PETITION

I've printed of several copies of the petition you sent me Debbie so thanks so much for that.

My first port of call was my youngest daughters school where I met with the headteacher and explained the situation. Unfortunately, as she was retiring at the end of the term I don't think her heart was really in it and basically said she couldnt ask her members of staff to sign it as it would 'seem as if she was endorsing it'. She showed no interest in finding out anymore about it so I left before I said something I'd regret lol.

I've been off work for the last few weeks due to illness but today was my first day back and decided to take the petition in with me. As I manage a pub I come across many people during my shifts and within 4 hours I'd almost filled a sheet with names, (not bad for a quiet day shift) I have left several empty petitions in work and I have asked other members of staff to try and help so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, just thought I'd keep you all updated and bring this thread back up as every single signature really does count Wink

Hi Paradise, thanks for all your help with the petition. It's a shame the headteacher couldn't help more. It's so frustrating when they show no interest in the programme, if only they would understand that if the programme was available to everyone their jobs would be so much easier. Sorry to hear you've not been well. Hope you're fully recovered now. Keep up the good work. Every signature is so important.  Yes

I had the same problem with Kieran's SENCO at his school when I asked about signing the petition. She said she did not know much about it but the dyslexia teacher had told her there was not enough research evidence to endorse it!!!!! So I like you left her before I said something I would regret and went stright to the head teacher, he was happy for me to spread the petition. Ellie XXX

    Re: PAPER PETITION

I'm going away on holiday from the 15th August (early hours), for 2 weeks so I was wondering what the deadline was for posting the petition to you Debbie. If it's the end of August then I was going to post them before I go, probably on the 13th. I've got a few people passing the petition around to their friends aswell so I'm hoping they're going to come up with a few extra. Apart from the school, NOBODY has refused to sign the petition. It's amazing how many people have relations/friends with dyslexia, ADHD etc.

Also I was talking to a good friend of mine who used to be very high up with the Conservative Party for the Welsh Assembly and he said I would need to pass the petition to my MP as only MP's can hand petitions to parliament, but then I explained I was posting it on so that they could all be submitted together. I'm presuming you know the procedure anyway but thought I'd pass on the advice I was given just in case. Well done for getting this petition up and running Debbie, you're a star

Thanks Paradise, if you could send it to me before you go away that would be great. As it's part of the online petition I need to get it to number 10 in time for the deadline of 30th August. Thankyou sooooooo!!!! much for all your help. Thanks for the advice, I'll get in touch with my MP and see if he can help.
