    Assessment

Well we finally had our assessment yesterday at Kenilworth, the first for nearly 3 months. It was along drive 2 1/2 hours but it was worth it to see Gabriel get a green on the hardest part of the balance test. Not to mention that we met Wynford and had a really good chat about everything. We even ended up being filmed talking to him by the BBC! So things must be happening if the beeb are interested.

He seemed really interested in Gabriel's progress and couldn't apologise enough for the long journey we had been forced to take. The programme specialist Neil reassured us that a centre should open "up north" soon but didn't give a date. The new mydore version also sounds like it will be really good too and much more interactive.

Oh and Gabriel has gone back to school on reduced medication and has managed the first week really well. His special needs assistant has written us a really positive note saying he has worked hard in lessons and his behaviour has been excellent!!! I know that won't silence the critics but I hope it will give hope to others. It certainly made me smile.

That's great news Gill. It sounds like Gabriel is doing really well. Look forward to seeing you on the BBC. I've never met Wynford but have been in touch by E mail a few times and he always seem very genuine.

Hopefully, if we keep putting the word out there, we will eventually silence the critics. People thought the Earth was flat once LOL!!!

WELL DONE GABRIEL!!!!!!   KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!  Yes

Great news about Gabriel this will really give him a boost and getting on the TV in the process all in one day. Lets hope that the programme they air is in a good light for Dore, we really do need some positive feedback for a change. Ellie XXX

    Re: Assessment

He said mydore 2 should be online in next few weeks. We will be able to update exercises daily and download new exercises as improvements are seen every day rather than downloading a book. I think the idea is you update the exercises online each evening and then you are given the next days exercises. So things will be more interactive and exercises will update more frequently. Good if you are online at home, not so good otherwise.

He did say it was in the hands of the IT guys so knowing how slow things move in IT from my place of work it will probably be about a month before it comes online. Wynford also said the programme specialists will be able to send us messages via the mydore 2 version as well. The kids should like that.

    Re: Assessment

I managed to get Danielle an appointment for tomorrow lunch time and we're travelling from Cardiff Sam, so once I'm there I'll ask if they're opening back up in Cardiff and if so, when!! I'd be very interested to find out myself, so if I hear anything post it on here Wink

    Re: Assessment

Well it's a good job we left earlier than planned as there was a 4 car pile up on the M5 and we moved about half a mile in 1 hour and 10 mins!!!!! Just goes to show you never know what's around the corner. Fortunately, we arrived with 20 mins spare and using the sat nav only helped partially as it kept asking for a house number which obviously we didn't have arghhhhh. I typed in house number 52 in the end lol. It brought us up Leamington Road to the roundabout where the diversion due to the roadworks is, and we saw the Dore sign as soon as we went onto the roundabout.

We saw Hannah who was great with Danielle and really managed to give her the encouragement that she needed. I did ask about the Cardiff Dore and she said that the majority of the clients they had seen today were actually from Cardiff. I guess the fact that it's only a 2 hour drive for us does help somewhat. It sounds as if there's a good chance that there will be a centre opening in Cardiff or the surrounding area BUT I must stress she really wasn't giving too much away!!! They seem to be holding their cards very close to their chests. I don't think they want to say too much or make any promises in case nothing transpires, which, to be honest, I'd rather it that way. I'd hate to get my hopes up if there's a chance of being disappointed further down the line. All I know is that she didnt say 'No' when I asked her so I for one am keeping my fingers crossed as I'd really like the opportunity for Danielle to go back to be 'signed off' properly which won't happen as it stands at the moment.

We had some excellent news while we were there though. Danielle has been told to complete one more booklet and then to move on to the weaning off stage, yay!!!! Her face was a picture and I felt a huge relief knowing that there was actually light at the end of the tunnel (the arguments have been getting more and more frequent recently). It's been such a support to me to be able to come on here and read that we're not alone going through all this, and even though I havent replied to all the posts on here, some of the words of encouragement that have been posted to others have made a huge difference, so thankyou everyone YesBig Smile

Great news Helen at least you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and know that Danielle is well on her way to completion. I can understand Dore's reluctance to be too positive about any branches opening at the moment, too much upheaval has gone before to be complacent about the future. Once there is something concrete then I am sure they will let us know. Ellie XXX
